WHAT TO CONSIDER WHEN CHOOSING THE PERFECT WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER

There are a lot of factors to consider when choosing the right photographer for you and your fiance. Picking a photographer to document the most important day of your life can be a stressful experience and I want to make that process as simple as possible.

Here are a few things to consider:

Hire your must-have vendors first, like your photographer. Aim to book them about nine months before the wedding or even a year out, if they are in high demand. Sometimes photographers have openings during the week which is usually cheaper to get married on than the weekend.

HOW DO THEY MAKE YOU FEEL?

You will want your experience with your photographer to be a good one because memories from that day will stay with you for a long time. Make sure to pick someone that leaves you feeling happy on your wedding day and can help you imagine the day from start to finish with all its magical and whimsical touches. It’s my mission is to make sure that everyone involved feels comfortable and at ease so we can capture the beauty of your day.

WHAT IS THE COST OF A WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER?

Let’s talk about cost, baby!

Wedding photography is a big investment, and you’ll want to make sure that your photographer has the experience and amazing talent to capture the day. Some photographers' fees include everything including albums, prints, and high-resolution images and others have a flat/ hourly rate and then an  à la carte option for any pictures or albums you want. Make sure you know what you are getting for your money.

A lot of photographers offer a price list that details several different packages at different price points. Make sure that you understand what's included. Don’t forget to ask how long the photographer will spend with you. This could be anywhere from just a few hours if you are eloping or 5-9 hours for a full wedding and whether there will be a second photographer.

WHAT IS THE WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER’S ARTISTIC STYLE?

If you're hiring a wedding photographer based on their incredible portfolio alone, ask them about their experience shooting weddings, what kind of equipment do they use? How many years have they been shooting weddings? Does it matter if they've never shot one before? Are they up-to-date with current techniques in wedding photography? Can they bring the magic you're looking for? You will have these photos for a lifetime so make sure you are happy with their style.

DO A TEST RUN:

A good way to see if your photographer is going to be a right  fit is to book an engagement photoshoot. This allows you to get to know your photographer and begin to feel comfortable having your photo taken, especially if you or your groom or bride is camera-shy. You can pose together and take turns posing in front of the camera, as well as doing some candid shots that capture your relationship as you are now. Don’t worry if you don’t know how to pose, a real pro photographer will be able to pose you to look your best.

THE CHOICE:

You've narrowed down your list of potential wedding photographers and you're ready to finalize your decision. This is a big decision, so it's important to feel completely comfortable with the person you'll be working with throughout your entire wedding day. Are you and your fiancé genuinely excited about the person who will be photographing your wedding or elopement? If yes, congratulations! But if not, that's okay, there are other photographers out there who will gladly take your money. The important thing is that you're stoked about the person who gets hired for your wedding day.
